Russ Horsley – Driving Player Development with iSportScouting

Enhancing Talent Identification & Development at Phang Nga United FC

With decades of experience in coaching, scouting, and player development, Russ Horsley has worked across the UK, Spain, Gibraltar, Dubai, Bulgaria, Cyprus, and Lithuania. As a UEFA-qualified coach and former Coach Educator for the English FA, Russ has played a pivotal role in shaping young talent globally. Now, as Co-Owner and Technical Director of Phang Nga United FC, a club competing in Thailand’s third-tier professional league, he is continuing to implement innovative scouting and development strategies.

A Data-Driven Approach to Scouting & Player Monitoring

Having managed elite academies such as the English Colleges FA and the Nike International Football Academy, Russ has always sought cutting-edge methods to evaluate and develop players. He has been closely involved with iSportScouting since its early development and recognizes the iSportScouting Soccer Skills Challenge as a game-changer for both individual player growth and club-level scouting.

Russ highlights the platform’s impact

I have been involved in the development of this platform almost since the start of the project and have seen it grow into a market-leading platform that promotes real player development skills that can be performed almost anywhere and provide crucial data and information.

A player can see the areas where they are strong and the areas where they may need to improve, this provides them with both the motivation and information to truly develop their game. As a scout or coach, it again provides crucial information that allows us to make informed judgements and comparisons across all players of a certain age group or playing in any given position.

Implementing iSportScouting at Phang Nga United FC

Russ recognizes the efficiency and depth of analysis provided by iSportScouting, allowing Phang Nga United FC to assess thousands of players at the push of a button. The club will use the Skills Challenge as an essential part of its scouting and player monitoring process, ensuring objective assessments and data-driven recruitment decisions.

As the Co-Owner and Technical Director of a professional club, my club will certainly be using the Skills Challenge to scout players and to continually monitor players within our club.

Conclusion

Russ Horsley’s endorsement of the iSportScouting Soccer Skills Challenge reinforces its value as a game-changing tool for clubs, scouts, and players worldwide. By providing objective performance insights, it enables both player development and large-scale talent identification, ensuring clubs like Phang Nga United FC have the best possible tools to evaluate and develop talent efficiently.

We look forward to seeing Russ and Phang Nga United FC continue to shape the future of player scouting and development with iSportScouting.

This changes more than scouting. When development is measurable and visible, families no longer rely on guesswork or reputation. Structured benchmarking gives players clarity, coaches confidence, and academies a stronger foundation built on evidence rather than emotion.
